Rules of Play

  •  Rules are governed by the World Curling Federation (WCF) Rules of Curling except as specified below (i.e. the tick rule is in effect).  All dispute resolution and refereeing will be resolved by the host committee.
  • All games are scheduled for 8 ends, however, a game timer is being used to encourage timely play. Please be aware of the timing rules in play at the host club and pay attention to the game clock to determine if your game will reach 8 ends.
  • The Ross Tarlton is a total points competition, all games count. Ties are not broken and the country taking the most total points wins the spiel.
  • The host team will throw the first rock in each game. Host teams will throw dark colored rocks.
  • Score cards are to be signed by the opposing vices and turned into the local score keeper following each game. Ends need not be recorded, final score for each team only.
  • A “mercy rule” will be in effect. If both skips agree, a game may be ended following the sixth (6th) or seventh (7th) end where there is a 10 rock differential.
  • Stick play is permitted provided delivery is from the appropriate hack. Rocks are to be directed towards the skip’s broom and delivered by walking or sliding from the hack and released prior to the near hog line.
